About Us

Feminitt Caribbean is a registered youth-led non-governmental organisation that seeks to transform existing structures of inequalities and oppression within communities across the Caribbean and to bridge the gap between education and advocacy by creating an accessible hub of information for socio-cultural and political development. Guided by Caribbean Feminist principles, we define our feminist politics as intersectional, just, and transformative.

We are building upon decades of work and advocacy of the Caribbean Women’s Movement- leading and reimagining inclusive cultural, political and social feminist development in the Caribbean through meaningful collaboration, freedom, integrity and love.

Our main focus is to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice in the region through comprehensive sexuality education, digital advocacy, and community-building

We recognise the importance of education and capacity building as major catalysts to bring about positive change within communities labelled as ‘at-risk’ and rural due to social inequalities and underdevelopment. We also recognise that education is not a means to an end, but must be coupled with tangible action such as policy advocacy and efforts towards cultural shifts amongst the population. We see the crucial role data plays in policy advocacy and we are committed to ensuring that our outputs and activities are equipped with a data collection component to assess the gaps and impact.

We work with historically marginalised communities: young women, girls and gender and sexually diverse groups to support and sensitize them to the growing gender inequalities that exist, in order to empower them to see themselves as changemakers to move the needle on gender equality.

Our key priorities are data-driven advocacy and sensitisation in the areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, LGBTQIA Rights and Gender-Based Violence particularly Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Sexual Violence. Our main goals and objectives are:

  • To support and empower grassroots individuals to see themselves as leaders to guide and transform their communities through sustainable gender transformative action.

  • To partner with existing NGOs to develop gender transformative programming to tackle the root causes of gender based violence and to promote solutions to prevent instances of abuse.

  • To promote dignified menstruation and proper access to menstrual products, menstrual health education and health care services through effective legislation and social welfare.

  • To engage in strategic and meaningful partnerships with individuals, organisations and agencies that support intersectional feminist development and movements.

“It is in collectivities that we find reservoirs of hope and optimism.”
